...All religions speak to a form of "Golden Rule",
but Christianity put it in a positive light, "Do unto others as you would have them
do unto you". Many present the concept in a negative way, "Do not unto others as
you would not have them do unto you". The Old Testament concept of an angry, jealous
and vengeful God was replaced by the New Testament's loving and caring God. Even so, we,
being human, cannot conceive of the true God since we perforce must give him human
characteristics. We are so un-Godlike that we can think in terms of human experience only.
You can be sure that God is much more wonderful than our finite brain can conceptualize.
The human condition is one of pettiness, lust, larceny, deceit, covetous, etc. Our journey
through life is to minimize these human traits because of a Divine love that makes us want
to follow the Master, not because of fear of the pit, but because of His unconditional
love. One who realizes this early on, is way ahead of the game. True happiness does not
come from "beating the game", but from "living the Life".
These words were spoken by my Grandfather. He is truly a wiser man than he ever realized! I love you Papa.
